Unione Sportiva Avellino is an Italian football club, based in Avellino, Campania. The club was founded in 1912. Avellino played the 2004-05 season in Serie C1, being promoted to Serie B after defeating neighbours Napoli in the Serie C1/B play-off finals. However, the 2005/2006 campaign did not end in a good way, as Avellino ended the season in 19th place, and successively lost the relegation playoffs to Albinoleffe (0-2, 3-2), therefore returning back to Serie C1.
