The Slovakia national football team is the national football team of Slovakia and is controlled by the Slovak Football Association.
The team played 16 matches between 1939 and 1944, then it was disbanded after World War II, as the Czech and Slovak teams played together in the Czechoslovakia national football team. After Czechoslovakia broke up in 1992, the national team was reformed, playing its first match on October 14, 1992, a 1-0 victory against Lithuania at Vilnius.
Slovakia made a run to the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification playoff, where it lost to Spain.
